Many words

Agreed

ftd.com sucks!

so, during the holiday season - there's not much worse than having to deal with death. when it happens, one would expect a company to live up to it's claims on it's website.
  1. ordered flowers for delivery the next day delivery
  2. nothing from them for 2 days
  3. phone call asking for exact delivery address: I provided, as well as a contact for more precise delivery instructions.
  4. sent email to friend : no delivery, and she had NO IDEA what ftd was
  5. forth day and phone # reports "cannot give you an update, use website"
  6. fill out the online request form
  7. another 2 days pass - nothing
  8. go to funeral, service
  9. receive the confirmation while on the way home!
  10. write / comment / request refund
  11. refund granted
  12. get a call from them claiming that it was delivered
  13. informed that they had to do some "research" before re-charging me
  14. RECHARGING!!! I was so upset, I told the representative: I was at all of the services and there was nothing from you! I dare you to try to re-charge me.
This is just a warning!!! I don't know of anybody else who has used them, but my experience was HORRIBLE!

Yahoo searches considered SPAM by trend micro???

Not sure why - will report later

Activating a Sprint USB modem! what a pain

So, everything looks so easy on the website.... swap an esn - save about 150 by buying at an auction. Then you get the card, and the software is included - it just sounds so peachy. Then: it never asks for the codes that they provide after the ESN swap... and then no connection.

After calling their support #s... and going to 3 different reps - I had only one question, my original one "How do I manually force it to re-activate?" After jumping through their hoops of rebooting, etc... I told them - look, the about tab thing doesn't have the right information... FINALLY - the answer...

open the smartview software (which should be called dumbview)... hold down shift and type ##ATV# then let go of shift and enter the # provided at the end of the ESN swap...

Once again, and I hope this saves somebody time... ##ATV#

Windows 7 Virtualization

By now, I've tried plenty of Windows 7...

but for the first time, I wasn't in charge of the hardware purchase...mistake!!!
why? because I wasted the download time of the "windows xp mode and the Virtual PC" according to Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

sure, I could have just used the advisor before downloading, but seriously! who would sell something without HAV? Dell would, that's who :(

There is no using Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 either... just go with VM Ware Server...

Assign drive letters

I hate it when you try to backup a machine across 2 external hard drives, but their drive letters don't come back the way you want them.

This link has been useful and fairly easy.
both x86 and x64 are available

A Busy Weekend

Today is Sunday - and I've sat on my butt for way too long this weekend! dual monitors and machines running on all three floors, an internet crash that had me working from an evdo card, and so much help from Mr. Delicious.

It's amazing though how on a side note and misc projects we can get stuff setup that will last... like hosted sharepoint that will undoubtedly be another implementation project.

phew! and to top it all off - there's some good news!

mathematics

so i go to the back of my car - now mainly driven by my wife b/c she likes it better than her civic....

and i start to do something really crazy... see a bunch of shoe boxes. I felt bad for her when her "favorite" shoes broke, but her math is funny ... lose 1 pair, then buy until i get that "feeling"???

eek - i wonder if she'd notice if i returned them

btw... you CAN have enough bags and shoes women!!!
